Ok, had to try this as all one quilt, so I expanded it to only be the Electric Fan block, alternated with the Depression Block. Don't know what I'd name it but electric depression's not good! Any ideas?
The Depression Blocks are totally scrappy, and I started using only three fan blocks of each color, but it was looking a little disjointed. Then I put only blues on the edge, and I liked that better. Now that I think about it, limiting the edge fans to the darker colors would probably work as well, deep blue, green, purple, burgundy. It was probably only the brights I didn't like on the edge next to the border.
I don't mind if other people use this design (or any of the block combos I've been playing with for the last few days) at all, as long as you give me a dab of credit and send me a picture of your completed quilt. Oh, and no fair selling it either. :)
Well, since EQ5 calls the block "Square Dance" what about "Depression Dance"?
ReplyDeleteYou sure do come up with pretty designs Jane!
THis is my favorite out of all of the designs you have given.
ReplyDeleteI like this one, too. How about "fanning the depression" or "depression hits the fan"? LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't have any ideas on what to call it but I'll definately be making it. It's the next thing I'll be cutting out when I get in a cutting mood.
ReplyDeletewhatever you call it this is sure a winner! :-)
ReplyDeletewow wow wow!
ReplyDeletelove it!
LOVE THE DESIGN! Something "round about the time of the depression" is in my mind for the title, because the two blocks are creating a round secondary design...
ReplyDeleteI love Gail's suggestion of "Depression hits the fan". Fabulous how you get curves without using curves - stunning design :)
ReplyDeletevery pretty... I want to play with it in two (scrappy) colors but I can't decide which ones!
ReplyDeleteI like it no matter what you call it!
ReplyDeleteOh I don't know - Electric Depression sounds kind of cool!
ReplyDeleteWow!! i missed a couple of days of blog reading and i see you have been busy with EQ. Love all the designs you have come up with. Great for using up those scraps.
ReplyDeleteGee. . .Electric Fan looks like a variation of Kalidescope (sp??). . .so, how about something like Kalidestar?
ReplyDeleteI really like the design. . . wish I could figure out how to use my computer quilt programs (if would probably help if I read the directions, but that is no fun)!!
Sherry
It looks to me like a lattice in front of a garden, so I would probably call it Garden Lattice. I really like the secondary design you get with this one. These two. =)
ReplyDeleteI have no suggestion for quilt names as I am not good at naming, but I sure like the quilt :-)
ReplyDeleteI think if you make the quilt it may suggest it's own name to you as you are working on it!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful quilt. It looks 3-D like a grille over a garden, except not in black, which makes it even lovelier. The colors just glow. I would love to make something like this, if I could make it look this good! Can you give us a measurement of something, so we could see the scale? Maybe talk with Judy to make this our hour a day quilt?
ReplyDeleteOoo fun! I like how this looks!
ReplyDeleteThis looks way cool, Jane!! Gotta see what you finally came up with for a name though I didnt have a problem with Electric Depression, LOL.
