Here we go, center section of top all finished:
Right now, it measures almost 71 x 71 with no borders. I can't decide if I want to add a skinny red border, then a green border or just go on and add the green border - I don't really need it much bigger, it's going to be a holiday table topper. I do want to put at least a one inch border on there to collect all those seams on the edge, it'll make it so much easier to bind.
Not many people have been opting to do sashing, but I'm glad I did!
Wow! Your quilt is stunning. I might have to cut a couple strips of sashing and audition them on my CC after seeing yours.
ReplyDeleteyour quilt came out gorgeous!
ReplyDeletelooks wonderful!!!!
ReplyDeleteI just love it with the sashing.
I like the idea of doing the skinny borders to end the quilt and make it easier to bind.
maybe even green, red, green would be nice
if you want to do all that!

It looks great. I am with Kathie and like her idea of green red green also very much.
ReplyDeleteNow I am strongly considering the sashing option....I'm still working on the final set of blocks so it's not like I have to make up my mind too soon!
ReplyDeleteThe red and green looks wonderful!
Sio
Ohhh Jane, your CC quilt is looking just wonderful. I really like it with the sashing strips, and I can understand why you're thinking about a border, it definitely will be easier to bind.

:-)
It turned out great!
ReplyDeleteI did mine the exact same way as you. I haven't photographed mine with borders yet. I finished the quilting today and have the binding sewn down to the front by machine.
ReplyDeleteI took some cream scraps (1-1/2" wide) for an inner border and used the same black as I did for the sashing strips and made a 5" border. I like mine that way. I'll post some pics tomorrow. Maybe it will help you decide for yours.
I love the red and green...so Christmas-y.

simply beautiful janie you did an amazing job on it
ReplyDeleteI'm sashing mine too---mine needed it to calm it down!
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a thin border, a wide border and then another wider border. I need the size.
Can't wait to get it done.
I've been watching all the Carolina Crossroad quilts popping up and I love them all. Great job!
ReplyDeleteLove your version and the sashing sure makes a difference to the final layout!
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo - you've got a flimsey!! Love how your version has come together :)
ReplyDeleteYour quilt looks great! I would think a small red border or a flap, a wider green one and then red binding would look good.
ReplyDeleteI've been watching as you have been stitching on all those itty bitty pieces. The top looks wonderful! I love the sashing between the blocks--just a bit of separation and balance that brings out the reds in the blocks since you look to have a lot of green in it otherwise.
ReplyDeleteThe other versions were your EQ renditions and those looked pretty too.
