Little Wallhanging

Remember the 250 half square triangles I made back in October for the guild mystery? Everyone else made 2 inch hsts, but I made 1 inch ones, to make a smaller version. This is what it turned out to be:

I changed the pattern by adding an inner border that extends the brown diamonds - I liked the points 'closed' rather than open at the outer edge. Then added 4 pinwheels made from leftover blocks in the corners.

My problem is that I can't decide how to quilt it. I heard that curved quilting designs show off geometric piecing, but I'm not sure how I'd apply that here. I could quilt in the ditch or a quarter inch in, along the inside of those diamonds, emphasizing the diagonal lines... but then what? Any suggestions? There's not much room to quilt inside individual triangles, although I do have cream, green and brown thread. All input appreciated!

Wow! It's gorgeous and I can't believe you work with such tiny triangles! When in doubt, I meander. Not very creative I know. Maybe follow the diagonal lines and then put a square around the centre pinwheels?

What a pretty quilt and I really like what you did with the borders to close off the diamonds. As for quilting, I'd probably consider SID or CC around the sashing triangles and a tight fill in the light areas - depending on my mood and attention span!

I think anything that will accentuate the diagonal lines would work even if you just did a simple line down the middle or the outsides of those lines. Some fill or SID in the pinwheels would make them pop.

How big did this finish then?? It looks lovely, Jane!

what a pretty little quilt! I'll be watching to see how you quilt it... I think I'd do some diagonal lines = maybe crosshatching.

It is so pretty, I like your little triangles. I love to hand quilt inside each triangle, but is just takes forever!

Am I right in thinking this is about 24" square? What a lot of work! =)

You could do something like intersecting spirals out from the pinwheels, if you want to go with the curves. Or an all-over curvy design. A traditional Baptist Fan would work well. What about wavy lines diagonally in two directions? 1 inch apart, maybe?

I know I'm in the minority, maybe a minority of one, but I never feel that SID really does a thing for a quilt.

How pretty! I agree with the suggestion of continuous curves or an allover pattern like baptist fans.
