Inner Squares

I did some extra time on Judy's 'hour a day' quilt today, since I had a nice free afternoon and a couple of DVD's to watch. Besides, I've got a board meeting tomorrow after work, and won't sew at all. Here we go. :)

Now for the borders. I'll do an inner solid green one, same size as the sashing, I think, so the leaves and lattice float. Then - still not sure what I want to do with the outer border. I've got plenty of that lattice color, and enough of several of the leaf colors. Lessee, got a choice between that Red/Orange/Yellow swirly stuff... the orange on the right side middle, and the red immediately above it. All the rest of the leaves came from FQ's, so unless I do something pieced, not enough of those.

I'm kind of leaning toward the lattice fabric, beige with brown leaves... what would YOU pick? Then bind it in... more green? A pieced binding? *thinking*

I like the swirly one that would be a good border. It looks great you did awesome with the darker background! xoxo melzie

I think I'd go with the lattice colour. I guess you'll know when you try them.

I'd float them with an inner GREEN border, use all your fabrics for a multicolored pieced border, and then go green again.

It is looking great! I"m not even going to try and decide what to do next! But I definately like the green inner border to float them.

I think I might piece the second border - sawtooth with green or lattice with the leaf colors? And then a second same size green border? Kind of what Mary's suggested above. Whatever you choose, it will look beautiful.

Looks terrific- I like the idea of 'floating', but can't imagine what to do next. Good luck, eager to see what you decide.

I'd used the lattice color and make a fence looking border backgrounded with the green. You'll have a lattice wall with a garden fence...

LOL, what Mary said. Looking good so far especially on the fence--you gotta take the finished quilt pic there too!

me again--green and then a sawtooth border might look good--since the leaves have that shape withe HST's scrappy like your leaves with the same background green??

Hi Jane, long time no see..no chance to read or comment...feels good to be almost human again..*VBS*
Your leaf quilt looks great! I like that you changed the block size, and what great colors you picked.
The green for a background is perfect. I read back as far as you working with the corel program to get the triangles printed. You are way ahead of schedule..LOL, but looking good! Hugs, Finn

nice - I really like the dark background. - have oyu considered snails trail blocks for the border? (I can so see it 1/2 dark green - 1/2 scrappy leaf & lattic fabric.
