Quiltville Mystery revealed!

Well, she posted the last clue tonight... and wow, it's pretty! I'm glad I started the mystery. :)

I like to do things a bit different though, so I think I'm going to try my Christmas fabric version with some red sashing between the blocks:

It'll be the same 1½ inch strips that we cut for the rail fence and nine-patch blocks, so it'll fit right in. And I'll make my borders a bit smaller, so this quilt will finish at almost 76 inches square instead of 80, just a tad smaller. :)

Now I can't wait to get this all sewn together!

Oh, I like this, too.
I used blue, yellow and white, and I feel like all my little blue 9ps kind of overwhelm the yellow. Adding more of the accent color might balance it out better for me.

I really like it with the sashing - separates the blocks a bit more.

I like it. My blues and reds are muddy in mine and haven't decided what I'm going to do with it. Mine just blends together....aaaarrrg!

Thanks for posting this! I find Bonnie's final design to be too busy for me--and my Stars disappeared! I was wondering if sashing would "solve" that problem for me. Your design really helps me sSEE what I was trying to imagine.

Me again Jane :)

With your added sashing strips (cut 1 1/2, sewn 1,yes?) how big does the top come out to be WITHOUT any borders?

It looks to me like Bonnie's borders are 2 (1 1/2) + 5 (4 1/2) so totalling all that she's adding 12" to the overall size to get 80? So it comes out to 68 without sashing and borders as she originally designed it? And then your sashing makes it how much bigger?

Whew, too much arithmetic for me. Help!!!!

Jeanne :)
