Square Dance Quilt Finished

I finally finished this quilt, with a center inspired by Martha Thompson's Square Dance book. If you look back on my blog in 2007, you can see some of the design process I went through.

Here's a closeup of it - you can possibly see the purple and blue fabric have the same pattern, just different colorways. I used many of the same fabrics from the inner pinwheels for the bigger pinwheels in the middle pieced border. This one ended up double bed sized.

Surprisingly, this quilt has been one of the most searched quilts in my blog - the book is more than 15 years old, out of print, and people are looking for instructions. I've received multiple e-mail requests for help. I actually e-mailed the publisher, and they say they have no plans to re-issue the book.

Lovely, lovely quilt.
For the book/pattern they can look on ebay or second hand outlets; sometimes magazines do a version of this. When I worked in a quiltshop here in Australia, a teacher did a class on it and it was always popular.
I love how bright and fresh yours looks!!

This is a beautiful and vibrant quilt. The colors are bright and cheerful. I love your quilting pattern. It makes a lovely contrast to the angles and straight lines of the pieces.

the book was selling for BIG bucks on Ebay for a while, but then a new edition was published a couple of years ago. I found her process too tedious to deal with... but your quilt is lovely!

It was a great quilt when I saw it back then, and it is even more lovely today! I love the fabrics you used, especially for the center pinwheels *VBS* Great job Jane! Isn't it interesting how so many of the gals today would love to have the books and patterns we used back then? Quilting is timeless. Hugs, Finn

What a beautiful quilt! Gee, guess I'm going to start combing used book stores for this one.

I just recently bought this book as a download from the publisher - $10 I think and you get access to the PDF which I printed off in colour and put in a folder. Have made one small quilt just to test the process.
