I finally finished this quilt, with a center inspired by Martha Thompson's Square Dance book. If you look back on my blog in 2007, you can see some of the design process I went through.
Here's a closeup of it - you can possibly see the purple and blue fabric have the same pattern, just different colorways. I used many of the same fabrics from the inner pinwheels for the bigger pinwheels in the middle pieced border. This one ended up double bed sized.
Surprisingly, this quilt has been one of the most searched quilts in my blog - the book is more than 15 years old, out of print, and people are looking for instructions. I've received multiple e-mail requests for help. I actually e-mailed the publisher, and they say they have no plans to re-issue the book.

Lovely, lovely quilt.
For the book/pattern they can look on ebay or second hand outlets; sometimes magazines do a version of this. When I worked in a quiltshop here in Australia, a teacher did a class on it and it was always popular.
I love how bright and fresh yours looks!!
It's a very striking design, I can see why people would want it!
I love your color choices on this. It turned out beautifully.
This is a beautiful and vibrant quilt. The colors are bright and cheerful. I love your quilting pattern. It makes a lovely contrast to the angles and straight lines of the pieces.
the book was selling for BIG bucks on Ebay for a while, but then a new edition was published a couple of years ago. I found her process too tedious to deal with... but your quilt is lovely!
It is really a striking quilt!! How pretty. I think I will review your old posts to check out the process...
Very gorgeous finish! I love the play that all the colors have when they intermingle.
It was a great quilt when I saw it back then, and it is even more lovely today! I love the fabrics you used, especially for the center pinwheels *VBS* Great job Jane! Isn't it interesting how so many of the gals today would love to have the books and patterns we used back then? Quilting is timeless. Hugs, Finn
This is a lovely quilt. Your color choices helped make it so.
What a beautiful quilt! Gee, guess I'm going to start combing used book stores for this one.
I just recently bought this book as a download from the publisher - $10 I think and you get access to the PDF which I printed off in colour and put in a folder. Have made one small quilt just to test the process.
You do such beautiful work!

I like the cabin quilt. My daughter is trying a baby blanket quilt. i made one while I was pregnant with her and now she wants to do one while she's pregnant.
love your Square Dance quilt Jane! ;) I was googeling it and have learned that the book is no longer for sale - out of print.. :( but thankfully I looked here and read the comments and learned how Hillary mentioned above that she was able to download it from the publisher for $10!! Yeaa! ;)
Love from Texas! ~bonnie
