Beautiful Spring weather for flower growing we've had so far this week in Memphis ... tomorrow it's supposed to rain, and for the rest of the week, so I took pix while the picture taking was good. My yellow iris are done, but the big purple/white ones are just starting:
And my favorite part, a closeup of the zebra stripey pattern on the bottom:
And my peony bush is just outdoing itself this year. Most stalks have two or even three huge blooms on them - I'm trying to keep the old ones pinched off, so they don't get too top heavy. And that's not weeds behind it (well, maybe one or two!) but the lighter green pointy foliage up against the brick is the beginnings of my orange daylilies:
As they bloom, over a week, that center bit of these peonies gets huge, tennis ball size. The scent is just glorious. This year, I sprayed them with ant spray before the big golf ball size blooms opened, and now I can take some in to work, to share, without taking in little crawlies too. The ants just love these:
Anyone else got flowers to show?

Absolutely beautiful photographs! Thanks for sharing. The only flowers I get to see are either wild or in someone else's yard - I don't have a yard! =)
Beautiful beautiful flowers - mother nature is so clever
Your peonies are gorgeous! My peonies are only about 2 inches tall at this point. It will be mid-June before I see them flower. The only flowers I have at this point here in CT are the tulips, daffodils, and forsythia.
My mom use to have a whole row of different colored Iris' along our garden's edge. However several years after she passed away, my dad built a new shop for his tractors and such and without even a thought about planning where to break ground - plowed thru all of them!!!
I lived 8 hours away at the time, but so wish I had known so he could have saved me some bulbs!!! Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos!!! ~Bonnie
You know looking back at those irises - if you were to paint an invented colour scheme like that people would question what substances you'd been taking - they're so vivid, but they are so beautiful
Thank you for the beautiful peonies.
Mine have a few weeks to go until they bloom. I do have lilacs almost ready, though.
Post more iris please! The colors are wonderful.
I bought three iris at the flower show last weekend. They haven't bloomed yet. I only hope they are half as pretty as yours!
