It seems like I just get almost finished with one quilt top, then get started on an idea for another. I went to Cynthia's blog and saw the little star she's working on... and then at Finn's blog, I saw her Depression block.
Now I've put them together into a design that will look good scrappy, I think. I love designs that look like you've set them on point without all the bother of actually having to cut setting triangles:
That depression block is going to be January's block of the month for my quilting guild, so I was planning on making a sample or two anyway. So I'm going to do THAT, and take pix, then get back to work on finishing the borders for this floral thing before I start making depression blocks and stars!

i love the design you have shown using the two blocks. As soon as i saw it i thought maybe i could do something like this instead of the pattern i was going to make with the star blocks. Hmmmm...perhaps that's another quilt i can make AFTER i have done my 30s star block quilt.
Look forward to seeing your blocks :-)
love the design - I put it in my "maybe" notes :D
What a mervelous design you've made. I need to save this for inspiration. I love quilts where two blocks are put together to make a brand new design. You are obviously very proficient in EQ. I don't use mine often enough to remember what I learn each time.
FORESTJANE YOU CLOSET SNOWFLAKEMAKER YOU! HOLY COW your flakes are AWESOME! You are better than SONKIST lol. Wait til I show my kids tomorrow :) Love the star/block design, cant wait to see it. My blog wont let me sign in LOL xoxo melzie
What a great idea. This quilt is going to be beutiful. I love stars and in this setting it is georgius. This one has to go in my inspiration box.
Wow, what a beautiful idea. And phooey, I just finished piecing my own depression block quilt together... I might be a little sick of HSTs. ;)
What a fabulous combination of blocks, I really like it.
Ohhh, Forest Jane, I love it! It's an amazing design. Do you mind if I save the picture for a later date?
*hugs*

Wow, very nice!May go on my to do list for 2007 since my goal will be to make only scrappy quilts next year! Very nice design job.
What a great design!! Love it.
What a great combination design - it is going to look stunning scrappy :)
Are you sure that you have to finish the floral one before starting this one??? Really sure?!? OK...'spose I'll wait for you. ;-)
A delightful design! I love the secondary patterns that the two blocks create when married together. Great border treatment too!
Like the others say, great design! I've added this to my clippings folder in Bloglines. Thanks
Great design-did you do it in EQ? Just rec'd my EQ6 and am still dong the lessons, but this is one I'd really like to try! I have some homespun plaids and stripes that would be great in this.
Love your design! Are they 8 inch blocks? I could get into this. I love HSTs. I need to plot this out on my EQ. Thanks for sharing!
Love your design and the possibilities for fabric combinations. Good job!
I think you've made a wonderful design here Jane!! The points blend right into the next and create such a nice design and movement from one block to the next!
Oh, wow, I love that one! What a great idea!
This is my favorite - the one with the depression block and the sawtooth stars. Nice.
