Laying Out Again

Well, here's what I did on my break at the library this afternoon. All the kids were asking, "Ms Jane, are you making a blanket?" So I did a little quilty education too, lol.

This has been a fun one to make, though, and quick! When I was cutting my strip sets, I got a 2½ row of blocks from each set, and I'd like to use those in the border, somehow. I've got some maroon/wine for the first, inner border, and then the blocky border, then another, thicker border in either the dark red or a blue, I guess.

Love the giggle over "twist layout", and would add "strip twist layout" and see what they do with that one..LOL

Love the way the blocks look together..great use for FQs that weren't favorites! You did a good job of picking them and of combining them.

Questions Answered: The dark green floral IS my ironing board cover. The peachy piece is a backing that I should have been ironing. The small quilt will just be the 9 patches and the goldie plaid..til I get to the borders, who knows what they will be..*VBG*

That quilt layout looks great! Aren't kids funny about what grownups are doing??? Great idea to make a lesson out of it--teachable moment, huh?

Love the "blanket". Can't wait to see what the borders do to it.

I love the movement you've created in this "blanket". It looks great! Loved the story of the kids too. If only most adults didn't lose that curiosity about the world that they had as children.

This is such a fun quilt to look at. I am going to have to skip over to quiltville and check the directions out to this one.

the strips almost look like they are waving, there is so much movement. Pretty!

Way to shop, girl! Too bad that the store is going out of business but you made a haul and did some thoughtful shopping. It sounds like it to me anyway or did you just rope me into the rationalizations??

Ooh yes Linda they DO look like they're waving. I love how the blocks have come together. Great use of the library!!! Books, blocks. heh!

Can't wait to see it with the borders. What kind of quilting are you planning on doing?

I love the way that your piecing/cutting worked out (minus the diamond-affect). Who needs diamonds anyway! LOL There's a lot of movement and liveliness in your quilt. It's no wonder the kids were drawn to it!
