Still working on Liberty

Well, here's where I am now - got my Liberty sewn to the house and spark. I tried several different fuses for the firecracker, and finally went and bought some single fold teeny bias tape in white. A straight fuse looked funny, so I'll hand stitch (uggh) down the new skinny bias fuse all curvy. I also decided to try and save some of the spark points, so when I trimmed the blue straight, I saved the bright bits, and I'll stitch them down too. I didn't want them all ending at the edge to the rectangle they're made on.

I took my first class with my new machine today - since anal obsessive me had already read the instruction book, I didn't learn much, but it WAS great to see her put all the different feet on and demo all the stitches for me. The letters are so cool, and I can see some great quilt labels using them!

These are my two sleeping angels... don't they look innocent? Someday, I'd like to do a quilt where two sleeping Siamese cats, faces together, make a heart shape. I know, kinda sappy, aren't I?

Of course you know they're not really sleeping, they're plotting together, and it helps them share their devious brain waves when their whiskers are touching.

Jane sssshhhhhh don't say that out aloud - the cats will know you're onto them!!!

That sounds like a lovely idea for a quilt. You could do little silhouetted siamese cat appliques around the outside :)

Good work with the justice quilt. It's shaping up really nicely.

hmm.......2 cats together in a heart shape.......sounds like a lot of hand applique to me! muahahaha...
The justice quilt is looking great and that little bit of hand sewing won't KILL you! And it will be sooo worth the effort! You may grow to like hand sewing yet! I used to hate it, now love it, so there is hope for you yet.

Nice effort. I'm addicted to EQ5, too. I can't tell you how many patterns I have printed, or drafted for my Guild. I'm on the Retreat committee, and this will be the fifth year our group has handled the task. The first year, the theme was "Fall Frolic", which included a design for a quilt border that incorporated our Guild block, Old Tippecanoe. The concept that each participant could choose blocks to make a memory quilt of the Retreat, personalizing it by their choices. I was delighted that two finished quilts made an appearance in our show two years later.

Hi Jane, have to say the quilt top is coming together nicely!! I think the firecracker looks really good, and the fuse idea you came up with, is inspired! A lot of work, granted, but it will look fabulous!

Your sleeping(or not) babies look like angels...having had a male Siamese for awhile, I know they ARE NOT !!

Nice of the one to lay still so the other can use him as a pillow!

Quilt is looking really good. Hand stitching isn't that bad...I love it so maybe I am biased.

It is fun watching the quilt come together. Sure the cats aren't planning on re-arranging the blocks?

You show devious Siamese kitties and now I've got that song from Lady and the Tramp stuck in my head "We are Siamese." They sure look sweet.
Quilt is coming along great.

I had to smile about you reading your sewing machine manual.

I ordered a manual for my old Singer 6233 and read it cover to cover when it arrived. I enjoyed every second even though there wasn't that much in it.

And your furry babies are precious.

You're making great progress with our quilt. Are your Siamese cats nice? We had one once and he was mean as a snake!
