First Round Done

Wheeee!
My first Ostrich round is done, and it isn't even close to the deadline. :)

I may have to make this King size, so I can use it myself... lol The center star block was 12 inches, the aqua border 2 inches, so by the time I added the 4 inch logs on each side, I'm up to 24 inches square.

And of course, now I'm impatient for October, so I can learn the theme for the next round.

WOW WOW WOW! I can't wait to see where this is going. It sure has started out beautifully! And I bet if you talked real nice, the person in charge would tell you Octobers theme! hehe

WOW is right! That's pretty striking! I'm still thinking of what I want to do, let alone have it done!

Omigosh! Wow! I opened your blog and it took my breath away. If the rest of the quilt is going to be this gorgeous, you're going to have to put a guard outside your door.

certainly is gorgeous-those colors are wonderful. I came up with my idea-now to find the time to sew it!

I love the larger white triangles along the edges of the border -- they'll help tie the next round in I'm sure. It's looking great. What a difference between our Ostrichs though -- mine is all of 8" square now, and something of an eyesore, yours is 24" and a gorgeous swan... Hope my "ugly duckling" blossoms as wonderfully as yours has :-)

WOW, WOW, WOW! I loved the blocks before, but what a striking border they make! Makes me want to rush home and make one quick! Think work would mind if I left?

That is beautiful!! WOW!!!

Between site problems and having to finish Spring Dance by tonight (it's finally done, yea!!!), I havn't worked on mine, much less thought of which of the ideaas I have stored will be for October.

What a gorgeous quilt! The compass is so graphic, it really pops out. And the pineapple blocks make a great border, I'd never have thought of that! Very impressive! :o)

Wow this look so good! What was the round by the way...log cabins or the pineapples themselves? It's going to be really neat.

I think I like all of the options below...each in it's own way!

WOW - my first round is done too - the red will be my "boxed in" border. :o)

I really like the way you made a zig zag with the white fabric using your pineapples. This looks great, and keeps the complexity in the quilt without detracting from the center.

I was going to say "Wow" but I see everyone else has stolen the words right out of my mouth. What a breathtaking start to your ostrich challenge! I love the border done with the pineapple blocks. How did you come up with that idea? It never would have occurred to me. Very effective!

This would make a great bed quilt. I love medallion settings on beds.

I disagree with Laurie Ann about keeping this one for yourself. I think you should give it to me for Christmas, of if it's not done by then, then for my birthday next year! And DUH is me, I thought YOU were hosting this, hence my silly comment before!

Superb! love the mariners compass (always loved them but never had a go myself) the pineapple blocks are wonderful especially with the zigzag the whites make and the whole thing is tying together beautifully - can't wait to see what's coming next - well done for rising to the challenge so spectacularly!

I love these pineapples as a zigzag border! What a great idea. Thanks for sharing. Good luck with the rest of the ostrich!

It's looking amazing. Did you realise that the flying geese were trying to go where your compass points but kept turning and coming back and going to the next point. ( an added theme you may or may not have intended.) Great work FJ.
