Pineapple Blossom Blocks

Here's what I've been working on these last few days. They're going to be round two of the Ostrich challenge. (Well, if you count the center block as a round, if not, they're round one.) We're not supposed to tell anyone the theme, but these will fit it. :) I did obviously decide to add in the teal fabric to the purple, these will go around the purple toned star block you saw a couple of posts ago.

I'm making 20 of them. The bottom two are my two sample blocks, above that is two stacks of nine partial blocks awaiting ironing. After work each night, I'm trying to do a pair of white triangle corners and a round of logs. You might recognize the block from Quiltville, it's Bonnie's Pineapple Blossom block, but I've redrawn it in EQ and made it teeny, to finish at 4 inches.

I also tried the block with teal on one side of the triangles, purples on the other, but in EQ, the border they'll be on didn't look as good as when I put the white diagonal where it is now. You'll see when I get them all sewn together!

those will be great for the Ostrich rr! I've yet to figure out what I'm doing, but two months, with only a 5 " centre block, shouldn't take to long to execute the plan once I develop it!

Those will be great with your center. I think I know what I will do, have some of the fabric hanging on the design wall next to the square. Like qpixie, my block is only about 6 inches, so it shouldn't take too long to actually do-and the one I'm thinking of is really simple!

Oh these are Wonderful! I LOVE the colors! I've always wanted to make that block by Bonnie, darn it - more inspiration.

Nice blocks. And with that center star, wow, your RR is going to be wonderful!

Until we got called out of town, I had half a hope of participating in this one so I guess this was not meant to be. I could have had that center floating around in my mind done--maybe informally. OR make myself work on that albastross of the local RR, next week. Honestly, I don't feel like sewing at all and best not do it, in that case.

These are pretty - I'm going to make a pineapple blossom quilt one of these days and will use Bonnie's pattern too. Mine won't be this small!

What beautiful blocks. I am a beginning quilter. I hopt you will publish the finished piecing and quilting so that I can see how you put it all together.

I also love the Chinese inspired art quilt!

I enjoy looking at art quilts, but I have tried that yet. I'm still learning how to do traditional blocks.

If you gt a chance, drop by my little corner of the web. I'm doing a series on color in the home, and I'd love for you to post a comment about your thoughts on choosing colors for quilts.

I used to live in Memphis, but I'm in Nashville now. My parents-in-law still live in Memphis. My mother-in-law creates beautiful quilts in an upstairs studio that she designed herself.
